It all started when…

…my grandfather Hugh Jackson founded the company over 70 years ago. In 1966 my father came into the business and we officially became Jackson Davenport Opticians. I joined the company in 1987 so we are now a third-generation company and we have been on King Street for 70 years. We moved to the corner of King Street and Calhoun Street in 1970. The corner was recently named after my Dad, Dick Davenport Corner in 2019.

Our family has been helping local Charleston families with their eyecare needs for generations. Over the years we have maintained our reputation for carrying exclusive and unique independent eyewear collections. We pride ourselves on customer service and offering independent eyewear not found anywhere else in the state. We have established personal connections with many small independent eyewear designers from all over the world and often travel overseas to discover truly wonderful small-batch collections to bring back to our boutique here in downtown Charleston. We also specialize in custom designed rimless eyewear and personalized buffalo horn, wood and exotic hand made collections.

We have an eye doctor on the premises available for comprehensive eye examinations and visual health checks. We also specialize in kids vision and glasses. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to the Jackson Davenport family!
